With an eye for an eye

As of late I've been exploring ways to enhance the quantity of detail my smaller more intimate drawings can absorb. Well I think I've made a breakthrough! - Extra Smooth paper. Obviously, that should have been my first approach, however I was reluctant to stray off from the usual 200 - 300gsm Fabriano paper. The extra smooth paper doesn’t have such a grip with the charcoal but the medium sits well on the surface, blends together nicely (Charcoal and pastel) and I am able to capture such a variety of tones and textures without that secondary aid of the papers surface texture. Best of all, you can find extra smooth paper in most art supply stores, ranging from 120 – 200gsm, definitely give it a try!
