I decided to use the main character from the game - Crysis.
I used multiple layers of washes for the background to create a different effects from my usual way of painting. The reason I chose to use this figure as my subject matter is because of my passion for gaming. This passion started many years ago from the age of 7 when I recieved my first playstation (PS1). I haven't stopped loving gaming and because i haven't, it has led me to the career choice of becoming a game designer. Besides the exciting different roles that you can get in a game, I loved the competitive edge, which led me to online gaming. I was south Africa's best female gamer in 2012 on PS3 in the clan RoA (Rise of Anarchy). Although the graphics are not the important part of a game I find it extremely interesting how different games have different art techniques portrayed in them, for example, the difference between a first person shooter and a role playing game. I could have gone straight from matric to a game designing college to learn how to do what I want, but instead I decided to study fine art to better my skills and to have the advantage of conceptualising my art.
