This artwork was a response to the book The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. Within this work I have focused on the bond between father and sons amongst symbols of the Middle East such as the pomegranate. The bonds formed here extend beyond the surface and are intertwined in more ways than one. I have used the pomegranate to emphasise on the beauty contained within the book as well as one of the prominent themes contained therein.Using a combination of dry materials such as charcoal as well as pigment rich wet materials the act of burning was made possible. Thus relating back to the bonds and habits represented. The large scale of over a metres worth of this fruit plays a vital role in displaying its importance.
