Multiple drawings have been done in response to the novel: Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer. The drawings capture the essence and history that essentially surrounded the three generations of men within the novel.

An Occurring theme of line merging and becoming somewhat pathway structures can be observed within the works. The hands depict and focus on the merge of old and new, as well as past and present. The essence of old and new as well as an important historical presence has been importantly captured through the medium of ballpoint pen.

The literary response really stirred in me more imagery than I would have gained through other sources such as the internet. The power of reading a book is more useful as it allows your imagination to run wild and helps you invest in unique ideas while reading at the same time. Literacy can unlock a lot of doors to the art making process. When you have hit an artist’s block, I highly advise that you read a compelling novel and with no doubt your inspiration will come back.
